Develop Your Global Supply Chain Strategy

In today's changing market conditions, supply chain management is under tremendous pressure to improve customer service, reduce inventory levels and labor costs, and provide quick response to market changes and demands. It is no longer sufficient to have an efficient domestic distribution system, the new millennium requires an efficient global supply chain ensuring sufficient inventory to deliver high levels of customer service while optimizing inventory across all trading partners.
Proper Prior Planning Prevents Piss-Poor Performance (7P's). Military strategists know that most battles are won before the first shot is fired. The side that determines where, when, and how an engagement is fought usually gains an insurmountable advantage. So get focused. Take some time and get some professional advice to help you develop and think through your global supply chain strategy; begin with the end in mind. What do you want to achieve? Who will you need on your team? Document the strategic advantage you intend to deploy that will differentiate you from the competition. The more clearly you articulate what you want and need from your global supply chain, the more likely you can plan and execute your mission.
