Generic marketing messages will more than likely yield average results. Writing marketing messages with more substance to them will send clearer messages about your and your products/services and it may help to really set you apart from your competitors. One of the worst messages to convey is by stating that you and your products/services are the "best". What does the word "best" really mean?

Here are a few examples of a poor advertisement/marketing use of the word "best":

- "We have the best prices."
- "Our widget is the best in the industry."
- "Our guarantee is the best."

You will be much more successful by converting the word "best" into more concrete facts and figures. The word "best", as used above, really do not give the customer any information to quantify. It would be much better to state that:

- "Our prices are 17% lower."
- "Our widget does the job 30% faster."
- "We offer a 100%, money back, full satisfaction guarantee - in writing."

Are you the "best" - or would you be "best" served by stating that your products/services are endorsed by four out of five market specialists/doctors/etc.?
